Riding the crest of the altmetrics wave: How librarians can help prepare faculty for the next generation of research impact metrics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
As scholars migrate into online spaces like Mendeley, blogs, Twitter, and more, they leave new traces of once-invisible interactions like reading, saving, discussing, and recommending. Observing these traces can inform new metrics of scholarly influence and impact -- so-called "altmetrics." Stakeholders in academia are beginning to discuss how and ...

Highly Off‐Centering Cations in Pavonite‐Structured Ag1.75InSb5.75Se11 with Competitive Thermoelectric Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Off‐centering of cations in pavonite‐structured Ag1.75InSb5.75Se11 (AISS) breaks crystal symmetry, inducing Rashba‐like band splitting and high band degeneracy, thus enhancing Seebeck coefficients. Soft bonds between off‐centered cations and Se atoms increase phonon scattering, achieving low lattice thermal conductivity (0.22 W m−1K−1 at 723 K). Doping

Elucidating Sodium Ion Storage Mechanisms in Hard Carbon Anodes at the Electronic Level

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐resolution, multi‐frequency continuous wave, and pulsed Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy uncover the intricate Na ion storage mechanisms in hard carbon. This study reveals the coexistence of Na ion intercalation and solvent co‐intercalation, alongside a subsequent transition of Na ions from ionic to quasi‐metallic to metallic ...

Collaboration challenges in systematic reviews: a survey of health sciences librarians

open access: yesJournal of the Medical Library Association, 2017
Objective: While many librarians have been asked to participate in systematic reviews with researchers, often these researchers are not familiar with the systematic review process or the appropriate role for librarians.

Library Information System Audit Senayan Library Management System (SLiMS) Using ISO 9126 [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
The library serves as a vehicle for education, research, conservation, information, and recreation to improve the nation's intelligence and empowerment [1]. The function of the library as a place of education, research, and information provides an opportunity to use the information system of Senayan Library Management System (SLiMS) in the library in ...

Near‐Field Phonon Nanoscopy and Imaging of Structural Variants in Mixed Phase BiFeO3

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nano‐Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scattering scanning near‐field optical microscopy imaging reveal the phonon response of nanoscale phase variants in mixed‐phase BiFeO3 (BFO). Direct mid‐infrared imaging of associated distinct vibrational signatures is used as a non‐invasive optical detection method for electrical switching of ...

Parallel Quantum Computation, the Library of Babel and Quantum Measurement as the Efficient Librarian [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2000
The complementary roles played by parallel quantum computation and quantum measurement in originating the quantum speed-up are illustrated through an analogy with a famous metaphor by J.L. Borges.

Hyperbranched Interpenetrating Hydrogen Bond Network (HIHBN) Proton Exchange Membrane for Fuel Cells Above 220 °C

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel polymer electrolyte membrane with a hyperbranched interpenetrating hydrogen bond network structure is developed. The unique structure of the hyperbranched polymer contributes to a high glass transition temperature exceeding 400 °C, enabling its operation at elevated temperatures for fuel cell applications.
