Dielectric and Gate Metal Engineering for Threshold Voltage Modulation in Enhancement Mode Monolayer MoS2 Field Effect Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Enhancement‐mode monolayer MoS2 FETs with low threshold voltage are essential for low‐power electronics. The threshold voltage can be tuned by the gate metal work function when the semiconductor/dielectric interface is clean. Interfaces between monolayer MoS2 and ZrO2 or hBN allow effective work‐function modulation of the threshold voltage, in contrast

Using a Zero‐Strain Reference Electrode to Distinguish Anode and Cathode Volume Changes in a Solid‐State Battery

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Volume changes of a solid‐state battery cell are separated into the individual contributions of anode and cathode. Simultaneously determining the “reaction volumes” of both electrodes requires a reference electrode with a pressure‐independent potential.

Anything to Keep You Happy? [PDF]

open access: yes
Whilst there is an abundant supply of theoretical and empirical contributions in cooperative bargaining models on the transfer of material resources within couples and the labour supply patterns of individuals in couples, this literature has so far not ...

Enabling Real‐Time, Non‐Ionizing 3D Imaging of Implantable Magnetic Cements Using Magnetic Particle Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study reports the first implantable resin cement capable of orientation‐sensitive Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI). By coating the cement with an ultrathin iron film, the authors achieve a strong, angle‐dependent MPI signal that enables non‐ionizing, real‐time tracking of both implant position and orientation, opening new possibilities for safe ...

Tear film and meibomian gland parameters associated with the effectiveness of intense pulsed light therapy for meibomian gland dysfunction

open access: yesScientific Reports
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is an effective treatment option for meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). This study retrospectively examined the differences in tear film and MG-related parameters before IPL therapy between responsive and nonresponsive patients.

Mucosal correlates of protection after influenza viral challenge of vaccinated and unvaccinated healthy volunteers

open access: yesmBio
The induction of systemic antibody titers against hemagglutinin has long been the main focus of influenza vaccination strategies, but mucosal immunity has also been shown to play a key role in the protection against respiratory viruses.

Ultrafast Photocatalytic Wettability Switching in Substrate‐Interface Tailored Titanium Dioxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates ultrafast photocatalytic wettability switching in TiO2 thin films by tailoring substrate doping and interface oxides. Enhanced switching rates and hemiwicking effects are achieved through optimized material stacks and nanostructuring.

Is Rural Child Labour Declining in India? [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper will look at the patterns of child work, schooling and ‘idleness’ across the major states of India and over two years - 1993 and 2004. We analyse two rounds of the NSS dataset to see whether the patterns of schooling and child work have ...

Perfusion Bioreactor Culture Incorporating Mechanical Confinement Enhances Mesenchymal Stem Cell Extracellular Vesicle Production and Wound Healing Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Scalable manufacturing challenges and limited potency remain two of the most intransigent issues limiting clinical translation of EV therapeutics. Mechanical cues can induce phenotypic changes and increased vesiculation in EV source cells without the use of extraneous reagents, chemicals, and/or cargo, thereby potentially drastically improving the ...

Hydrogel Confinement Strategies for 3D Cell Culture in Microfluidic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hydrogel confinement structures are key to organizing 3D cell cultures in microfluidic devices. This review classifies five structural strategies (micropillar, phaseguide, porous membrane, stepped‐height, and support‐free) and examines their trade‐offs alongside fabrication methods.
