Metarhizium anisopliae Mitigates the Phytotoxicity of Lead and Nanoplastics on Rice by Modifying Physiological, Transcriptomic, Metabolomic Activities, and Soil Microbiome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Metarhizium anisopliae alleviates the phytotoxic effects of polyethylene nanoplastics (NP) and lead (Pb) in rice by decreasing Pb uptake, restoring antioxidant and hormonal equilibrium, and promoting growth. Additionally, the fungus modifies the rhizosphere microbiota, enhancing both contaminant tolerance and plant growth, thereby effectively ...

A Fully Self‐Powered Digital Wearable System for the Auxiliary Treatment of Plantar Fasciitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reports a system‐level fully self‐powered digital wearable system (FS‐DWS) for the auxiliary treatment of plantar fasciitis. By integrating arch support, energy harvesting, wearable sensing, and machine learning‐driven closed‐loop visualized feedback, the system enables effective plantar pressure reduction and self‐powered, real‐time plantar

Synergistic remediation of Cd/Pb contamination in paddy soils using iron-based sulfur-rich material combined with foliar Zn fertilizer

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Addressing the limitations of single-technology approaches to mitigate cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb) co-contamination in rice, this study elucidates the synergistic mechanism between iron-based soil immobilization and foliar zinc (Zn) barrier control. A pot

Optimal Grazing Exclusion Duration to Enhance Soil Carbon Sequestration in Degraded Grasslands

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Across China, grazing exclusion reaches the national mean soil organic carbon recovery benchmark sooner in high‐MAP regions (> 500 mm), but recovery is much slower where MAP < 300 mm. Scaling this strategy to 70% of China's degraded grasslands would sequester about 1.52 Pg of soil carbon over 10 years—roughly 17% of annual global fossil‐fuel emissions.

Life cycle analysis for the cultivation and combustion of miscanthus for biofuel compared with natural gas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
As negative environmental and economic impacts of fossil fuels have escalated, so has the importance of renewable bioenergy crops whose feedstocks are noncompetitive with food supplies. Compared with fossil fuels, use of lignocellulosic feedstocks offers

Integrating Human Intestinal Organoids into FDA'S New Approach Methodologies for Drug Discovery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Illustration summarizes how human intestinal organoids (HIOs) are becoming transformative in preclinical research. Preclinical drug discovery pipelines often rely on animal models for ADMET studies, even though interspecies ADME gaps, poor external validity, and high attrition rates are common.
