Rethinking Life and Predicting Its Origin
The definition, origin and recreation of life remain elusive. As others have suggested, only once we put life into reductionist physical terms will we be able to solve those questions. To that end, this work proposes the phenomenon of life to be the product of two dissipative mechanisms.

PREDICTION OF HONEY SHELF LIFE
ABSTRACT Fourteen commercial honey samples of different botanical origin (acacia, chestnut, citrus, eucalyptus, multifloral) were stored for up to 18 months at room temperature. Both 5‐hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) and diastase were evaluated and kinetics carried out.

Measurement of the half-life of 198Au in a non-metal: High-precision measurement shows no host-material dependence [PDF]
We have measured the half-life of the beta decay of 198Au to be 2.6948(9) d, with the nuclide sited in an insulating environment. Comparing this result with the half-life we measured previously with a metallic environment, we find the half-lives in both ...

Predicting PV module service life
The International PV Module Quality Assurance Task Force was created in 2011 to develop a rating system that provides comparative information about the relative durability of PV modules. The identification of accelerated stress tests that can provide such comparative information is seen as a major step toward being able to predict PV module service ...

Markov and Neural Network Models for Prediction of Structural Deterioration of Stormwater Pipe Assets [PDF]
Storm-water pipe networks in Australia are designed to convey water from rainfall and surface runoff. They do not transport sewerage. Their structural deterioration is progressive with aging and will eventually cause pipe collapse with consequences of ...
