The Shewanella oneidensis Fic enzyme SoFic targets the switch‐I region of EF‐Tu for AMPylation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fic enzymes mediate diverse post‐translational modifications across all domains of life, including AMPylation. Prokaryotic EF‐Tu can be AMPylated and deAMPylated by the conserved Fic enzyme SoFic. Structural and biochemical approaches were used to characterize the effect of AMPylation on EF‐Tu, SoFic's enzymatic activities, and the enzyme‐target ...

Reproductive performance and life expectancy of Tetranychus urticae (Acari: Tetranychidae) on seven eggplant cultivars

open access: yesJournal of Crop Protection, 2012
Reproductive performance and life expectancy of the two-spotted spider mite (TSSM), Tetranychus urticae Koch were determined on seven eggplant cultivars (Isfahan, Dezful, Shend-Abad, Neishabour, Bandar-Abbas, Jahrom and Borazjan) at 25 ± 1°C, 60 ± 5% R.H.

Chiral separation of chloroalkanes with the chromatographic column onboard Martian rovers

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Computer image of the Rosalind Franklin Rover of ESA's ExoMars mission. ExoMars is scheduled to land on planet Mars in Oxia Planum in 2029. This area represents an interesting spot to look for biosignatures. Investigations of ExoMars include measurement on molecular chirality. We show that chiral chloroalkanes, that have been identified on Mars, can be

Temperature-dependent life table parameters of Galleria mellonella (L.) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae)

open access: yesJournal of Crop Protection, 2015
The effect of temperature on demographic parameters of the greater wax moth, Galleria mellonella (L.) was studied at 23, 25, 27, and 30 °C, 50 ± 10% RH and a photoperiod of 16:8 (L: D) h.

A context‐dependent modulatory role for eIF6 in acquired resistance to vemurafenib in melanoma

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Acquired resistance to vemurafenib upregulates the translation factor eIF6 in melanoma cells. Silencing eIF6 in resistant cells reduces proliferation and partially restores drug sensitivity, whereas its overexpression increases sensitivity across melanoma lines regardless of BRAF status, via modulation of mTOR, S6K, and MAPK signaling.

Lethal and sub-lethal effects of fluxametamide and Sero-X on dynamic parameters of Neoseiulus californicus McGregor (Acari: Phytoseiidae)

open access: yesPersian Journal of Acarology
This study investigates the lethal and sub-lethal effects of the pesticides fluxametamide and Sero-X on the predatory mite, Neoseiulus californicus (McGregor) (Acari: Phytoseiidae). As a key biocontrol agent, N.

Biological parameters of Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) exposed to lethal and sublethal concentrations of Calypso®

open access: yesJournal of Crop Protection, 2017
Efficacy of the neonicotinoid insecticide, Calypso® was studied on eggs, nymphs and adults of Trialeurodes vaporariorum Westwood, using a leaf disc bioassay method. Concentrations from 0.15 to 0.8 ml/l were applied by systemic-contact method. Nymphs were

On the characteristics of the parameters of a life table function.

open access: yesGenus, 1985
This study is based on a mathematical model for the life table survivorship function developed by the author, "the form of which has been logically arrived at in a manner such that the simple but the well known constraints of the life table functions can be met by the model.

Invisible but not inaccessible—Revealing transient oligomers formed by intrinsically disordered proteins with solution NMR and complementary methods

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Transient oligomers formed by intrinsically disordered proteins may be ‘invisible’ to direct detection yet remain accessible to solution NMR through equilibrium‐exchange measurements and pressure‐jump experiments. Complementary methods report on mass, stoichiometry, selected distance distributions, morphology, and internal packing.
