open access: yes, 2003
We report results on risk factors for invasive squamous cell and adenocarcinomas of the cervix in women aged 20-44 years from the UK National Case-Control Study of Cervical Cancer, including 180 women with adenocarcinoma, 391 women with squamous cell ...

Baseline and lifetime alcohol consumption and risk of skin cancer in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition cohort (EPIC) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Experimental evidence suggests that alcohol induces cutaneous carcinogenesis, yet epidemiological studies on the link between alcohol intake and skin cancer have been inconsistent.

Family history, genetic testing, and clinical risk prediction: pooled analysis of CHEK2 1100delC in 1,828 bilateral breast cancers and 7,030 controls. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
If breast cancers arise independently in each breast the odds ratio (OR) for bilateral breast cancer for carriers of CHEK2 1100delC should be approximately 5.5, the square of the reported OR for a first primary (OR, 2.34).

Risk determination and prevention of breast cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014

INDOOR RADON CONCENTRATION AND EXCESS LIFETIME CANCER RISK

open access: yesRadiation Protection Dosimetry, 2022
Abstract In this study, the indoor radon ( 222Rn) levels in summer and winter seasons were measured by using a total of 537 CR-39 detectors. The arithmetic mean values (ranges) of radon activity concentrations (RACs) in summer and winter seasons were found to be 71 Bq m −3 (27–313 Bq m−3) and 241 (89–1047 Bq m−3), respectively.

Epigenetic mechanisms of breast cancer risk exposures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The breast cancer incidence rate is increasing and risk prediction needs to be improved. Higher lifetime oestrogen exposure is associated with increased risk, however, the mechanisms between oestrogen exposure and breast cancer development are not clear.

Lifetime and baseline alcohol intakes and risk of pancreatic cancer in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Recent evidence suggested a weak relationship between alcohol consumption and pancreatic cancer (PC) risk. In our study, the association between lifetime and baseline alcohol intakes and the risk of PC was evaluated, including the type of alcoholic ...

Design of the BRISC study: a multicentre controlled clinical trial to optimize the communication of breast cancer risks in genetic counselling

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2008
