Line Ratio in the C-like Ion Spectrum O III: Testing Atomic Theory Predictions Through the Observation of Galaxies

open access: yesAstronomy
The progress made in atomic structure computations has indicated that certain line ratios of forbidden transitions may be slightly different from earlier assumptions.

Future Satellite Lifetime Prediction From the Historical Trend in Satellite Half-Lives [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics, 2022
Satellite lifetime is one of the important characteristics of satellite design and construction. It's also of practical importance to know when a satellite is about to fail, as reentry and disposal can become operational matters.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Measuring lifetime poverty [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Economic Theory, 2011
The paper provides an axiomatic framework necessary to investigate the lifetime poverty for an individual as well as for the society, and to identify the appropriate axioms for their measurement. It further suggests that consumption rather than income is a more accurate measurement of the standard of living over time, especially in the context of ...

Electroplex as a New Concept of Universal Host for Improved Efficiency and Lifetime in Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue Phosphorescent Organic Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2018
A new concept of host, electroplex host, is developed for high efficiency and long lifetime phosphorescent organic light‐emitting diodes by mixing two host materials generating an electroplex under an electric field.

Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

Measurement of the D± lifetime [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2001
We report precise measurement of the Ds meson lifetime. The data were taken by the SELEX experiment (E781) spectrometer using 600 GeV/c Sigma-, pi- and p beams. The measurement has been done using 918 reconstructed Ds. The lifetime of the Ds is measured to be 472.5 +- 17.2 +- 6.6 fs, using K*(892)0K+- and phi pi+- decay modes.

Update (v1.1) to DLTPulseGenerator: A library for the simulation of lifetime spectra based on detector-output pulses

open access: yesSoftwareX, 2018
In this update, the DLTPulseGenerator library was extended to allow the simulation of spectra consisting of non-discrete and distributed specific lifetimes, which follow a Gaussian, Lorentzian/Cauchy or Log-Normal distribution function.

Study of singly heavy baryon lifetimes

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
We study the inclusive decay widths of singly heavy baryons with the improved bag model in which the unwanted center-of-mass motion is removed. Additional insight is gained by comparing the charmed and bottom baryons. We discuss the running of the baryon

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.
