Mathematical Simulation of Dust Lifting from the Surface
Journal of Applied Mechanics and Technical Physics, 2002The authors present results of numerical simulation of shock wave passing along a dusty layer; the simulation is performed under one-temperature and one-velocity assumptions. It is shown that a system of compression and rarefaction waves is formed inside the layer, and these waves are successively reflected from external boundary and solid wall.

Unsteady Separation on Lifting Surfaces
Applied Mechanics Reviews, 1987This article presents a review of some recent work that deals with the phenomenon of unsteady separation on two- and three-dimensional lifting surfaces. The presently available experimental data are interpreted in light of the recent idea advanced by Ho (1986), in which unsteady separation is associated with a spatially developing local shear layer. Lifting Surface Theory for Thrust-Augmenting Ejectors
AIAA Journal, 1977The circulation theory of airfoil lift has been applied to calculate the performance of thrust augmenting ejectors. The ejector shroud is considered to be 'flying' in the secondary velocity field induced by the entrainment of the primary jet, so that the augmenting thrust is viewed as analogous to the lift on an airfoil.
