Biomechanics of intra-articular and extra-articular reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament
The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 1993Many methods of reconstruction for ACL deficiency have been described, but little is known about their biomechanical properties. We examined extra-articular (EA), intra-articular (IA) and combined (EA+IA) reconstructions in ten cadaver knees after the ACL had been ruptured by the performance of a rapid anterior drawer movement. Stability at each stage

Biomechanics of Extra-Articular Ligaments of the Knee and Extra-Articular Tenodesis
2021Rotational knee instability following anatomic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction has warranted a new look at the anterolateral structures of the knee and their biomechanical behavior. Although the anatomy of the knee has not changed, controversy has arisen from the recent description of a novel anterolateral ligament (ALL).

Loose intra-articular body following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction
Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic & Related Surgery, 2005We report a case of intra-articular fracture of a bioabsorbable fixation device from the femoral tunnel in an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using a bone-tendon-bone graft. Thirteen months after successful reconstruction surgery, the patient experienced episodes of locking and medial joint pain. There was no history of trauma and no symptoms

Extra-Articular Plasty for Revision Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction
Clinics in Sports Medicine, 2018Recent studies have renewed interest in the structures of the anterolateral aspect of the knee. Concomitant damage to these structures in the setting of anterior cruciate ligament rupture has led to various surgical techniques to address these combined injuries.

A multiplicity of surgical operations have been developed in an attempt to achieve satisfactory function after ACL repair. None of these procedures have been able to duplicate the fiber organization, attachment site anatomy, vascularity, or function of the ACL.

Intra-articular Reconstruction of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament
Orthopedic Clinics of North America, 1985In this article, the author provides criteria for the recommendation of surgical intervention in acute and chronic anterior cruciate ligament insufficiency and describes various intra-articular procedures for both conditions. Intra-articular reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament with a vascularized patellar tendon graft is described in ...

Extra-articular techniques in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction
The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 2011This annotation considers the place of extra-articular reconstruction in the treatment of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) deficiency. Extra-articular reconstruction has been employed over the last century to address ACL deficiency. However, the technique has not gained favour, primarily due to residual instability and the subsequent development of ...

Intra-articular analgesia for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction
Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2012May 2016. It has now been decided that this is a low priority topic. We are not seeking new authors to take over this withdrawn protocol. April 2016. The published protocol has been withdrawn as the original authors are no longer interested in continuing with the review and we have been unable to find new authors to take the project over.

Deterioration of patellofemoral articular surfaces after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction
The American Journal of Sports Medicine, 1993One hundred eighty-seven patients who had undergone intraarticular anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using either a fresh-frozen allogeneic tendon or central third autogenous patellar tendon 3 to 89 months pre viously were arthroscopically evaluated.

Intra-articular peroneal nerve incarceration following multi-ligament knee injury
Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, 2015Knee dislocation with a common peroneal nerve injury is a serious problem. A case of multi-ligamentous knee injury with the unusual and interesting finding of a common peroneal nerve rupture incarcerated within the knee joint is presented. MRI and arthroscopic images are used to document this occurrence.
