PNA-induced assembly of fluorescent proteins using DNA as a framework [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Controlled alignment of proteins on molecular frameworks requires the development of facile and orthogonal chemical approaches and molecular scaffolds. In this work, protein−PNA conjugates are brought forward as new chemical components allowing efficient

A totally laparoscopic associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy assisted with radiofrequency (radiofrequency assisted liver partition with portal vein ligation) for staged liver resection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In order to induce liver hypertrophy to enable liver resection in patients with a small future liver remnant, various methods have been proposed in addition to portal vein embolisation.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Laparoscopic repair of hernia in children: Comparison between ligation and nonligation of sac

open access: yesJournal of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons, 2014
Aim: The essence of the current techniques of laparoscopic hernia repair in children is suture ligation of the neck of the hernia sac at the deep ring with or without its transection. Some studies show that during open hernia repair, after transection at

Ribonucleolytic resection is required for repair of strand displaced nonhomologous end-joining intermediates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Nonhomologous end-joining (NHEJ) pathways repair DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) in eukaryotes and many prokaryotes, although it is not reported to operate in the third domain of life, archaea. Here, we describe a complete NHEJ complex, consisting of DNA

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

A Case Report of Profuse Bleeding in the Lower Gastrointestinal Tract due to Dieulafoy Lesion in the Rectum

open access: yesActa Medica Indonesiana, 2023
Dieulafoy lesion is a rare condition that usually occurs in cases of gastric bleeding in the upper gastrointestinal tract. However, this condition can also occur in the lower gastrointestinal tract but less frequently.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

A Cadaveric Study on Lumbar Spinous Process Fusion: Risk Factor for Wrong Level Spinal Surgeries [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2020
Introduction: The fusion of Lumbar Spinous Processes (LSP) of adjacent vertebrae may lead to errors in determining the correct spinal level. This may result in wrong level spinal surgeries around the lumbar region. Aim: To determine the prevalence of

Simultaneous microsurgical spermatic vein ligation and sclerotherapy - A combined procedure for the treatment of recurrent or persistent varicocele [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Objectives: Microsurgical ligation as well as antegrade sclerotherapy have been established in varicocele treatment. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether a combination of microsurgery.
