Duct ligation/de-ligation model: exploring mechanisms for salivary gland injury and regeneration [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology
Sialadenitis and sialadenitis-induced sialopathy are typically caused by obstruction of the salivary gland ducts. Atrophy of the salivary glands in experimental animals caused by duct ligation exhibits a histopathology similar to that of salivary gland ...

Recovery from Outpatient Laparoscopic Tubal Ligation is Not Improved by Preoperative Administration of Ketorolac or Ibuprofen

open access: yesAnesthesia & Analgesia, 1994
The analgesic efficacy of a single dose of ketorolac or ibuprofen given preoperatively was assessed in healthy outpatients undergoing general anesthesia for laparoscopic tubal ligation. Fifty patients were randomized to receive either ketorolac 60 mg intravenously (i.v.), ibuprofen 800 mg orally, or placebo in a double-blind manner.

Complete esophageal obstruction following endoscopic variceal band ligation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Community Hospital Internal Medicine Perspectives, 2013
Variceal hemorrhage is a potential complication of portal hypertension. Besides medical management, endoscopic variceal band ligation (EVBL) has emerged as a promising prophylactic tool proving to be superior to sclerotherapy.

Femoral vein ligation for groin recurrence in a woman with vulval squamous cell carcinoma: A case report

open access: yesCase Reports in Women's Health
The management of groin recurrences in women with vulval cancer presents a significant therapeutic challenge. Groin recurrences, particularly those involving the femoral vessels, are associated with poor outcomes.

A Novel Bile Duct-Saving Portal Ligation Technique for Subtotal Hepatectomy Survival Operations in Rats

open access: yesLivers
Background: Creating a model for acute liver failure in animal models is essential for research on liver regeneration and cancer. Current surgical techniques allow for a maximum of 80% partial hepatectomy in rats, with low survival rates due to poor ...

Impact of Early Dorsal Venous Complex Ligation on Urinary Continence Recovery after Robot-assisted Radical Prostatectomy: Results from a Phase 3 Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yes, 2022
Background: Whether early ligation of the dorsal venous complex (DVC) might improve recovery of urinary continence (UC) after robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) has never been investigated in a prospective randomized study.

Proximal ligation after the side-to-end anastomosis recovery technique for lymphaticovenous anastomosis [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Plastic Surgery, 2019
Background Lymphaticovenous anastomosis is an important surgical treatment for lymphedema, with lymphaticovenous side-to-end anastomosis (LVSEA) and lymphaticovenous end-to-end anastomosis being the most frequently performed procedures.

Recovery of limb perfusion and function after hindlimb ischemia is impaired by arterial calcification

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2021
Medial artery calcification results from deposition of calcium hydroxyapatite crystals on elastin layers, and osteogenic changes in vascular smooth muscle cells.

Pulmonary tuberculosis complicating post patent ductus arteriosus ligation recovery: a case report

open access: yesPan African Medical Journal, 2023
Patent ductus arteriosus beyond the early neonatal period presents with failure to thrive, congestive cardiac failure, and recurrent pneumonia which is similar to the presentation of pulmonary tuberculosis. Both clinical conditions can coexist with significant adverse outcomes if not properly treated.
