Out-of-plane behavior of innovative infill walls made of autoclaved aereated concrete (AAC) subjected to shake table tests

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment, 2023
Introduction: Seismic damage affecting the non-structural components of buildings (such as infills) can significantly impact the expected economic losses over a structure’s service life.

The effect of workmanship on the transmission of airborne sound through light framed walls [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Acoustics, 2008
A study of the airborne sound transmission in a multi-tenanted building has shown that elements of the building which are nominally identical do not have the same acoustic performance. It was seen that some of this variation in performance could be attributed to visually-observable differences in the constructions.

Magnon pair emission from a relativistic domain wall in antiferromagnets

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
Magnon emission and excitation by a relativistic domain wall at a constant velocity in antiferromagnets is theoretically studied. A pair emission due to a quadratic magnon coupling is shown to be dominant.

FITTING A NORMAL PROBABILITY DISTRIBUTION TO DEPTH ESTIMATIONS OF THREE REALSENSE™ RGB-D CAMERAS TESTED IN SCENES WITH TRANSPARENCY [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2022
In the last decade, various companies have released different versions of RGB-D sensors, improving their performance at various levels (resolution, frame rate, robustness).

Experimental study of compartment fire development and ejected flame thermal behavior for a large-scale light timber frame construction

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2021
Most of the previous work focused on fire behavior of non-combustible construction. However, few investigations have systematically addressed fire development and window ejected flame based on large-scale light timber frame construction (LTFC).

How fast can the wall move? A study of the electroweak phase transition dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
We consider the dynamics of bubble growth in the Minimal Standard Model at the electroweak phase transition and determine the shape and the velocity of the phase boundary, or bubble wall.

The Application of Building Physics in the Design of Roof Windows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This paper deals with a small but important component in a building envelope, namely roof windows in pitched roofs. Building physics methods were used to support the search for new solutions which correspond to the maximum extent for requirements for ...

Design of stick-framed wood roofs under tornado wind loads

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment, 2022
Light-frame wood construction comprises nearly 90% of the housing industry in Canada and the United States. The roofs of these houses can be constructed either entirely on site or using prefabricated trusses.

Light-Front Holographic QCD and the Confinement Potential

open access: yes, 2013
Light-Front Hamiltonian theory, derived from the quantization of the QCD Lagrangian at fixed light-front time \tau = t+z/c, provides a rigorous frame-independent framework for solving nonperturbative QCD.
