Application of monosymmetrical I-beams in light metal frames with variable stiffness [PDF]

open access: yesTrudy Odesskogo Politehničeskogo Universiteta, 2016
The article is devoted to effectiveness of using of monosymmetrical I-beams with flexible wall frame structures of variable section, features of their calculation and design. Aim: The aim of research is to confirm the feasibility of I-beams with flexible

Buckling Properties of Monosymmetric I-Beams [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Structural Division, 1980
Approximations are derived for the section properties required for the calculation of the elastic critical loads of monosymmetric I-beams and are found to be related to the ratio of compression flange and section minor axis second moments of area. Approximations are obtained that are applicable to I-sections with unequal and lipped flanges and that are

Investigation of Lateral-Torsional Buckling Strength Trends in Monosymmetric Stepped I-Beams Subjected to Several Loading Conditions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Korean Society of Hazard Mitigation, 2014
It has been proven in recent studies that for monosymmetric I-section beams, in considering bending moment diagrams caused by any combination of applied end moments and transverse loads acting at the shear centre, the lowest critical lateral torsional buckling moment does not necessarily correspond to uniform bending. This finding is different from the

Elastic lateral torsional buckling strength of monosymmetric stepped I-beams

open access: yesKSCE Journal of Civil Engineering, 2012
This paper reports the results of parametric analyses for the lateral torsional buckling strengths of singly symmetric stepped Ibeams with constant depth subjected to general loading conditions. Simply supported beams with varying monosymmetric ratios from 0.1 to 0.9 were analyzed using a finite element program ABAQUS and a regression program MINITAB ...

Lateral- Torsional Buckling Strength of Monosymmetric Doubly Stepped I-Beam subjected to Pure Bending

open access: yesJournal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, 2009
This study investigates elastic lateral-torsional buckling(LTB) of monosymmetric doubly stepped I-beams subjected to pure bending based on finite element analysis(FEA). The results from the FEA are used for new design stepped equation, Cst. The equations are compared with the results from the FEA. The comparison indicates that the new equation provides

Distortional buckling in monosymmetric I-beams

Thin-Walled Structures, 2006
This paper deals with distortional buckling of simply supported monosymmetric I-beams under three types of load: a central point load, a uniformly distributed load and a uniform sagging moment. ABAQUS is used for the investigation. Top-flange and bottom-flange load positions are considered for the first two load cases.
