Azobenzene's Cross‐Scale Optics and Photonics: Molecular Photoswitching, Mesoscopic Material Motions, and Adaptive Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 56, 8 October 2026.
Azobenzene photoswitches translate molecular‐scale E/Z photoisomerization into macroscopic material responses and device‐level photonic functions. This Review highlights how azobenzene research has evolved from molecular photochemistry to photoalignment, mass migration, photomechanics, and heat release, ultimately enabling holography, reconfigurable ...

Liquid Crystal Elastomer‐Based Haptic Pixel Arrays at Your Fingertips for Advanced Human–Machine Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 56, 8 October 2026.
We mechanically program liquid crystal elastomer coatings as a stimuli‐responsive and digitally addressable platform for refreshable tactile displays; we validate the perceptual performance of our dynamic device matches conventional static tactile media.

Effects of Thermal Pretreatment and Spontaneous Fermentation on the Quality Characteristics of Okara Flour

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
Thermal pretreatment and spontaneous fermentation were evaluated for their effects on the quality characteristics of okara flour. Fermentation duration significantly affected beany‐flavor intensity, with thermally pretreated okara fermented for 12 h showing the lowest observed intensity (2.24 ± 1.10).

Green Sorptive Sampling Coupled With UHPLC–IMS–MS and GC×GC–TOFMS for Characterization of Migrating Substances From Plastic Food Contact Materials

open access: yesJournal of Separation Science, Volume 49, Issue 10, October 2026.
A green PDMS sorptive sampling loop coupled with complementary liquid and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry enabled detection of migrating chemicals from plastic food contact materials under everyday‐use scenarios. The approach revealed diverse additives and non‐intentionally added substances, supporting improved exposure assessment of plastic ...

Understanding higher‐order aberrations in keratoconus

open access: yesOptometry and Vision Science, Volume 103, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Keratoconus is characterized by progressive thinning and increasing irregularity of the cornea, leading to substantial degradation in optical quality through the induction of both lower‐ and higher‐order aberrations (HOAs). In addition to inducing myopic and astigmatic refractive error, asymmetric corneal steepening generates complex optical ...
