Predicting Variable Star Light Curves [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1993
AbstractI present a new method to test determinism, in particular the nonlinear behavior, in observed time series of pulsating stars, based on a recent prediction method which exploits the dynamical system theory. A method for filling gaps in data has thereby been constructed.

The radial pulsation of AI Aurigae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We present an analysis of eleven years of Stromgren by photometry of the red semiregular variable star AI Aurigae. An early period determination of 63.9 days is confirmed by the long-term light curve behaviour.

The Optical Variability of Supermassive Black Hole Binary Candidate PG 1302–102: Periodicity and Perturbation in the Light Curve [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, 2018
The photometric light curve of PG 1302–102 shows periodic variability, which makes this object one of the most plausible supermassive black hole binary candidates. Interestingly, the most recent study of its updated optical light curve reports a decrease

Swift/BAT and RXTE Observations of the Peculiar X-ray Binary 4U 2206+54 - Disappearance of the 9.6 Day Modulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Observations of the high-mass X-ray binary 4U 2206+54 with the Swift Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) do not show modulation at the previously reported period of 9.6 days found from observations made with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) All-Sky Monitor

The late-time light curve of the type Ia supernova SN 2011fe [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We present late-time optical R-band imaging data from the Palomar Transient Factory (PTF) for the nearby Type Ia supernova SN 2011fe. The stacked PTF light curve provides densely sampled coverage down to R ≃ 22 mag over 200–620 d past explosion ...

VBBinaryLensing: a public package for microlensing light-curve computation [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2018
The computation of microlensing light curves represents a bottleneck for the modeling of planetary events, making broad searches in the vast parameter space of microlensing extremely time-consuming.

Tycho Brahe's supernova: light from centuries past [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The light curve of SN 1572 is described in the terms used nowadays to characterize SNeIa. By assembling the records of the observations done in 1572--74 and evaluating their uncertainties, it is possible to recover the light curve and the color evolution
