Studies on the Solvent Extraction of Rare Earth Metals From Fluorescent Lamp Waste Using Cyanex 923

open access: yes, 2014
The growing need for materials such as rare earth metals (REMs) has focused attention towards their recovery from various end-of-life products. Fluorescent lamps are considered a viable target, and can be a source of up to six REMs: lanthanum, cerium ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Efficiency enhancement of InGaN amber MQWs using nanopillar structures

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2018
We have investigated the use of nanopillar structures on high indium content InGaN amber multiple quantum well (MQW) samples to enhance the emission efficiency. A significant emission enhancement was observed which can be attributed to the enhancement of

Extraction of arbitrarily moving arbitrary shapes by evidence gathering

open access: yes, 2002
There are currently available many approaches aimed at tracking objects moving in sequences of images. These approaches can suffer in occlusion and noise, and often require initialisation.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Progress in Performance of AlGaN‐Based Ultraviolet Light Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials
AlGaN‐based ultraviolet light‐emitting diodes (UV‐LEDs) have the advantages of mercury (Hg) pollution free, small size, high efficiency, and so on, and are widely used in military, medical, and industrial fields, which are considered to be the most ...

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...
