Numerical Simulation for Light Extraction in Nano-Patterned Light-Emitting Diodes
Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2008We present numerical simulation results using the three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain method for light extraction in light-emitting diodes (LEDs) constructed on nano-patterned n-GaN substrates. We studied reasonable conditions for numerical calculation, including excitation source conditions, simulation size conditions, and boundary ...

Improvement for the Light Extraction Efficiency of LightEmitting Diodes
ACTA PHOTONICA SINICA, 2010The impact of the refractive index and thickness of substrate on the light extraction efficiency of flip-chip LED is analyzed through simulation analysis. And a new diamond-shaped structure is proposed. The results show that the light extraction efficiency is improved to a good purpose in the diamond-shaped LED,resulting in an increase in the light ...

Controlling Program Extraction in Light Logics
2011We present two refinements, based on program extraction in elementary affine logic and light affine logic, of Krivine & Leivant's system FA2. This system allows higher-order equations to specify the computational content of extracted programs. The user can then prove a generic formula, using these equations as axioms.

Surface patterning of nonscattering phosphors for light extraction
Optics Letters, 2013A two-dimensional TiO₂ photonic crystal layer is fabricated on Y3Al5O12:Ce3+ (YAG:Ce) yellow ceramic plate phosphor (CPP) to enhance its forward emission. A triangle lattice pattern is defined by molecular transfer lithography with polyvinyl alcohol nanostructured templates.

LiCompass: Extracting orientation from polarized light
IEEE INFOCOM 2017 - IEEE Conference on Computer Communications, 2017Accurate orientation information is the key in many applications, ranging from map reconstruction with crowdsourcing data, location data analytics, to accurate indoor localization. Many existing solutions rely on noisy magnetic and inertial sensor data, leading to limited accuracy, while others leverage multiple, dense anchor points to improve the ...

Light extraction from OLEDs using volumetric light scattering
SPIE Proceedings, 2004One of the limitations on OLED performance is the optical extraction efficiency, η ex , which is the ratio of light generated within the device to light emitted into the ambient. Ideally η ex is equal to unity. Typical estimates for this efficiency factor in OLEDs range between 0.17-0.5.

Nanograting transfer for light extraction in organic light-emitting devices
Applied Physics Letters, 2011Damage-free transfer of nanogratings as waveguide mode extraction elements onto the top of top-emission organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) was realized with the assistance of cyclic olefin copolymer molds. Photoluminescence and electroluminescence measurements together with transfer matrix calculations were used to identify the extracted waveguide ...

Light extraction mechanisms in surface-textured light-emitting diodes
SPIE Proceedings, 2001ABSTRACT Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with high efficiencies can be fabricated by a combination of surface texturing and the application of a rear reflector. We demonstrate an external quantum efficiency of 43% for unencapsulated surface-textured thin-film LEDs, which increases to 54% after encapsu1ation At low temperatures, the efficiencyof ...
