Asymmetric microstructures for high light extraction and light pattern modulation
2013 International Conference on Optical MEMS and Nanophotonics (OMN), 2013This work presents a novel method of fabricating asymmetric microstructures for light extraction enhancement and light pattern modulation. Asymmetric microstructures were fabricated at wafer level by two-step photolithography, surface energy modulation, and thermal reflow.

Nanotexturing in Ultraviolet Light-Emitting Diodes for Enhanced Light Extraction
Integrated Photonics Research and Applications/Nanophotonics, 2006We discuss the use of nanotextured surfaces to increase the light extraction efficiency of ultraviolet light emitting diodes (UV-LEDs). Design approaches, fabrication processes and challenges, and initial experimental results are discussed.

Cavity effects on light extraction in organic light emitting devices
Applied Physics Letters, 2008We have demonstrated that the light extraction efficiency of an organic light emitting device is a strong function of device geometry. Specifically, we have found that the ratio of the extracted mode to the substrate-guided mode varies from 22% to 55% depending on the location of the recombination zone.

Light extraction in organic light-emitting diodes

Light extraction by Lambertian sources from light emitting diodes
SPIE Proceedings, 2013Internal back-and-forth propagation of photons within a light emitting diode (LED) will naturally tend towards a Lambertian intensity profile when surface texturing is sufficiently rough. Novel designs in light extraction efficiency (LEE) can therefore benefit by optimizing under this expectation.

[Progress of light extraction enhancement in organic light-emitting devices].
Guang pu xue yu guang pu fen xi = Guang pu, 2015Organic light emitting devices (OLEDs) have been used in flat-panel displays and lighting with a near-30-year development. OLEDs possess many advantages, such as full solid device, fast response, flexible display, and so on. As the application of phosphorescence material, the internal quantum efficiency of OLED has almost reached 100%, but its external
