Design of a Horizontally Aligned Perovskite Nanowire LED With Improved Light Extraction

open access: yesIEEE Journal of the Electron Devices Society, 2021
Within a short span of a few years, metal halide perovskite light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have shot past the 20 percent external quantum efficiency mark. As the material quality and photoluminescent quantum yield of perovskite are already at par with the ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Efficient light extraction in subwavelength GaAs/AlGaAs nanopillars for nanoscale light-emitting devices

open access: yesOptics Express, 2020
This work reports on high extraction efficiency in subwavelength GaAs/AlGaAs semiconductor nanopillars. We achieve up to 37-fold enhancement of the photoluminescence (PL) intensity from sub-micrometer (sub-µm) pillars without requiring back reflectors, high-Q dielectric cavities, nor large 2D arrays or plasmonic effects.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Improved light extraction efficiency of GaN-based flip-chip light-emitting diodes with an antireflective interface layer

open access: yes, 2016
GaN-based flip-chip light-emitting diodes (FC-LEDs) grown on nanopatterned sapphire substrates (NPSS) are fabricated using self-assembled SiO2 nanospheres as masks during inductively coupled plasma etching.

Performance Improvement of InGaN-Based LEDs via a Current-Blocking Region Prepared via Hydrogen Passivation

open access: yesCrystals, 2022
We report p-GaN passivation via hydrogen plasma used to create current blocking regions (CBRs) in InGaN-based green LEDs with standard dimensions of 280 × 650 μm2.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Analysis of light extraction efficiency of GaN-based light-emitting diodes

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2011
GaN-based light emitting diodes (LEDs) as one of the most important light source in next-generation solid-state lighting have been extensively studied and remarkable progress has been obtained. However, the light extraction efficiency (LEE) is not sufficient to satisfy application requirements.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
