QCD and QED Corrections to Light-by-Light Scattering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We present the QCD and QED corrections to the fermion-loop contributions to light-by-light scattering, gamma gamma to gamma gamma, in the ultrarelativistic limit where the kinematic invariants are much larger than the masses of the charged fermions ...

Scattering of light in photonic crystals [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2002
A new method is developed to calculate the scattering of light at the surface of a photonic crystal. The problem is solved in terms of virtual surface-current distributions and the calculation takes full advantage of the infinite-space plane-wave expansion method for obtaining the photonic band structure.

Ambiguities in the scattering tomography for central potentials

open access: yes, 2006
Invisibility devices exploit ambiguities in the inverse scattering problem of light in media. Scattering also serves as an important general tool to infer information about the structure of matter.

Phase light curves for extrasolar Jupiters and Saturns [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We predict how a remote observer would see the brightness variations of giant planets similar to Jupiter and Saturn as they orbit their central stars. We model the geometry of Jupiter, Saturn and Saturn's rings for varying orbital and viewing parameters.

Light-by-light scattering in double-logarithmic approximation

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2018
In the present paper we consider the elastic $$2 \rightarrow 2$$ 2→2 -scattering of virtual photons at high energies in the forward kinematics at zero and non-zero values of t.

Characterization of anisotropic nano-particles by using depolarized dynamic light scattering in the near field

open access: yes, 2009
Light scattering techniques are widely used in many fields of condensed and sof t matter physics. Usually these methods are based on the study of the scattered light in the far field.

Compton Scattering on Light Nuclei

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2010
Compton scattering on light nuclei (A = 2, 3) has emerged as an effective avenue to search for signatures of neutron polarizabilities, both spin–independent and spin–dependent ones.

Quantification of Very Low Concentrations of Colloids with Light Scattering Applied to Micro(Nano)Plastics in Seawater

open access: yesMicroplastics, 2023
The detection and quantification of micro(nano)plastics in the marine environment are essential requirements to understand the full impacts of plastic pollution on the ecosystem and human health.
