Beyond Bounds on Light Scattering with Complex Frequency Excitations [PDF]
Light scattering is one of the most established wave phenomena in optics, lying at the heart of light-matter interactions and of crucial importance for nanophotonic applications. Passivity, causality and energy conservation imply strict bounds on the degree of control over scattering from small particles, with implications on the performance of many ...

Four-Parameter white blood cell differential counting based on light scattering measurements [PDF]
Measurement of the depolarized orthogonal light scattering in flow cytometry enables one to discriminate human eosinephilic granulocytes from neutrophilic granulocytes. We use this method to perform a four-parameter differential white blood cell analysis.

Scattering of Light by Protons [PDF]
Within the framework of the Chew-Low-Wick development an analysis of the scattering of photons from a nucleon is carried out. It is shown that an exact relationship exists between the Compton effect amplitude and the experimental meson-nucleon scattering phase shifts for all multipoles except magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole provided that ...

Coulomb spin liquid in anion-disordered pyrochlore Tb2Hf2O7
Experimental studies of frustrated spin systems such as pyrochlore magnetic oxides test our understanding of quantum many-body physics. Here the authors show experimentally that Tb2Hf2O7 may be a model material for investigating how structural disorder ...

A novel method for tracking structural changes in gels using widely accessible microcomputed tomography is presented and validated for various hydro‐, alco‐, and aerogels. The core idea of the method is to track positions of micrometer‐sized tracer particles entrapped in the gel and relate them to the density of the gel network.
