Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Plastination is an excellent technique which helps to keep the anatomical specimens in a dry, odourless state. Since the invention of plastination technique by von Hagens, research has been done to improve the quality of plastinated specimens. In this paper, we have described a method of producing light-weight plastinated specimens using xylene along ...

Light-weight lead aprons — light on weight, protection or labelling accuracy?
Australasian Physics & Engineering Sciences in Medicine, 2005X-ray transmission tests were performed on a Green-Lite (Infab Corporation) apron/vest combination, and compared to a number of other apron/vest combinations routinely used at Christchurch Hospital as well as a sheet of 0.5 mm lead. The materials were X-rayed using the primary beam of a Philips Optimus 50 X-ray machine over an energy range of 50-125 ...

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1961
This paper describes a seven-pound device that indicates changes in the refractive index of a gas. Because it is capable of detecting refractivity fluctuations that are as small as one part per million, it is useful in studying the irregularities in the refractive index of the troposphere that are important in short radio-wave transmission.

Light-weight primitive, feather-weight security
Proceedings of the Workshop on Embedded Systems Security, 2013In [12], the authors present a new light-weight cryptographic primitive which supports an associated RFID-based authentication protocol. The primitive has some structural similarities to AES, but is presented as a keyed one-way function using a 128-bit key. Although a security analysis is included, this is at a high-level only.

Light weight multiview capturing
2012 IEEE Consumer Communications and Networking Conference (CCNC), 2012The framework of capturing multiview images has received a great attention from industry as well as academy due to its usability in various applications; 3D scene reconstruction, super-resolution, scene understanding, surveillance etc. This paper presents a multiview capturing system that uses a single camera with multiple mirrors.

Memory errors in C and C++ programs continue to be one of the dominant sources of security problems, accounting for over a third of the high severity vulnerabilities reported in 2011. Wide-spread deployment of defenses such as address-space layout randomization (ASLR) have made memory exploit development more difficult, but recent trends indicate that ...
