Light Yield and Light Collection Uniformity

2018
Given the large size of the CsI[Na] detector, a crucial calibration was to probe the light collection uniformity along the crystal. A 241Am source was placed on the outside of the copper can at nine equally spaced positions along the length of the CsI[Na] detector to measure the light collection uniformity in the CsI[Na] crystal.

Unveiling The Role of Cu+ Doping in Rb2AgBr3 Scintillators toward Enhanced Photoluminescence Quantum Efficiency and Light Yield

Advanced Optical Materials, 2023
Doping in luminescent metal halides has become an effective strategy for tailoring the optoelectronic properties. Herein, Cu+ is introduced into Rb2AgBr3 to design the synthesis of Rb2AgBr3:xCu+, which possess cold‐white light emission at room ...

Air-stable Bulk Halide Single Crystal Scintillator Cs3Cu2I5 by Melt Growth: Intrinsic and Tl-doped with High Light Yield.

ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, 2020
Ternary metal halides with large exciton binding energy have recently gained considerable attention in the optoelectronic field, due to their high photoluminescence quantum yield and large Stokes shift. Here, efficient scintillators are designed based on

High-Light Yield Bismuth-Loaded Plastic Scintillators

Hard X-Ray, Gamma-Ray, and Neutron Detector Physics XXIII, 2021
Plastic-based scintillator detectors have many advantages over inorganic scintillators, including mechanical ruggedness and cost. However, their range of application has generally been limited by their lack of gamma spectroscopic performance. We have been developing metal-organic doped plastic scintillators which allow for spectroscopy while ...

Characterization of Eu-doped Ba2SiO4, a high light yield scintillator

Applied Physics Express, 2020
Photoluminescence and scintillation characteristics of Eu-doped Ba2SiO4 were investigated. A broad emission band due to Eu2+ is observed at 500 nm, and the photoluminescence and radioluminescence decay time constants are about 397 and 515 ns ...

Scintillation light yield of BaF2:Ce

Optical Materials, 2009
Abstract BaF 2 :Ce scintillator is a well-known, reasonably fast and efficient scintillator characterized by a decent stopping power and availability of large size crystals. In this communication we report scintillation light yield measurements on a number of BaF 2 :Ce samples cut from one larger boule.

Light yield improvement in lead tungstate

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2005
Abstract A new approach to the possibilities of increase in the light yield (LY) of scintillations in lead tungstate (PWO) is discussed. The abrupt LY decrease above 200 K is connected with the start of rotations of WO 4 tetrahedra which disturbs electrostatic separation between non-equilibrium electrons and holes, thus accelerating their non ...

Engineering of a new single-crystal multi-ionic fast and high-light-yield scintillation material (Gd0.5–Y0.5)3Al2Ga3O12:Ce,Mg

, 2020
A single crystal scintillation material (Gd0.5–Y0.5)3Al2Ga3O12 (GYAGG) doped with Ce and codoped with Mg at a small concentration was grown by the Czochralski technique and studied for its scintillation properties for the first time.

Loss of quantum yield in extremely low light

Planta, 2004
It has generally been assumed that the photosynthetic quantum yield of all C3 plants is essentially the same for all unstressed leaves at the same temperature and CO2 and O2 concentrations. However, some recent work by H.C. Timm et al. (2002, Trees 16:47-62) has shown that quantum yield can be reduced for some time after leaves have been exposed to ...

Surface-Enhanced Light Olefin Yields during Steam Cracking

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2000
Various papers have shown enhanced olefin yields during steam cracking when a catalytic surface is introduced. Our studies reveal that increased light olefin yields during catalytic steam cracking are mainly due to a surface volume effect and not to a traditional catalytic effect. Augmentation of yields is also observed if inert material is introduced.
