Deep Parametric Indoor Lighting Estimation [PDF]
We present a method to estimate lighting from a single image of an indoor scene. Previous work has used an environment map representation that does not account for the localized nature of indoor lighting.

Hybrid Approach for Facial Expression Recognition Using Convolutional Neural Networks and SVM
Facial expression recognition is very useful for effective human–computer interaction, robot interfaces, and emotion-aware smart agent systems. This paper presents a new framework for facial expression recognition by using a hybrid model: a combination ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

We fabricated InGaN/GaN nanorod light emitting diode (LED) on (-201) β-Ga2O3 substrate via the SiO2 nanosphere lithography and dry-etching techniques. The InGaN/GaN nanorod LED grown on β-Ga2O3 can effectively suppress quantum confined Stark effect (QCSE)

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Fast Spatially-Varying Indoor Lighting Estimation [PDF]
We propose a real-time method to estimate spatially-varying indoor lighting from a single RGB image. Given an image and a 2D location in that image, our CNN estimates a 5th order spherical harmonic representation of the lighting at the given location in ...
