Electroless Silver Plating Reflectors to Boost the Performance of Vertical Light-Emitting Diodes

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
In this paper, we experimentally demonstrated a novel approach known as electroless silver plating (ESP) for the fabrication of Ag-only reflectors on vertical light-emitting diodes (VLEDs).

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Individual control of electric lighting in a daylit space

open access: yes, 2008
Participants (N=40) occupied a glare-free, daylit office laboratory for one day, and were prompted every 30 minutes to use dimming control over electric lighting to choose their preferred light level.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Beyond solid-state lighting: Miniaturization, hybrid integration, and applications of GaN nano- and micro-LEDs

open access: yesApplied Physics Reviews, 2019
Gallium nitride (GaN) light-emitting-diode (LED) technology has been the revolution in modern lighting. In the last decade, a huge global market of efficient, long-lasting, and ubiquitous white light sources has developed around the inception of the ...

Auditory and Visual based Intelligent Lighting Design for Music Concerts

open access: yesEAI Endorsed Transactions on Creative Technologies, 2018
Playing music is about conveying emotions and the lighting at a concert can help do that. However, without a dedicated light technician, many bands have to miss out on lighting that will help them to convey the emotions of what they play.

Preparation of high-quality YAG:Ce3+ ceramic phosphor by high-frequency induction heated press sintering methods

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
This study investigates the characteristics of a ceramic phosphor (CP) for the converter of a high-power laser diode-based automobile headlamp synthesized by high-frequency induction heated press (HFP) sintering. The CP prepared by an HFP method exhibits
