Impact of different light sources on broiler rearing environment [PDF]

open access: yesEngenharia Agrícola, 2014
Broiler production is highly dependent on the use of artificial light. The light source may affect the effectiveness of housing conditions due to increasing ambient temperature and concentration of noxious gases.

Reinforced Lattice Kalman Filters: A Robust Nonlinear Estimation Strategy

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Signal Processing, 2023
This article introduces the Sliding Innovation Lattice Filter (SILF), a robust extension of the Lattice Kalman Filter (LKF) that leverages sliding mode theory. SILF incorporates a sliding boundary layer in the measurement update formulation, enabling the

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
