Total lightning activity in thunderstorms over Paris [PDF]
A statistical study of two groups of storms that occurred in the Paris area (France) during summer 2000 has been realized. The first group includes 26 high radar reflectivity (HRR) storms with radar reflectivity values exceeding 60 dBZ while the second one includes 19 moderate radar reflectivity (MRR) storms with a maximum radar reflectivity value ...

Nighttime observations of thunderstorm electrical activity from a high altitude airplane [PDF]
Nocturnal thunderstorms were observed from above and features of cloud structure and lightning which are not generally visible from the ground are discussed.

On the classification of self-triggered versus other-triggered lightning flashes [PDF]
We present in this paper lightning current measurements and LMA (Lightning Mapping Array) data associated with upward flashes observed at the Sàntis Tower during Summer 2017.

The Timing of Cloud-to-Ground Lightning Relative to Total Lightning Activity
Abstract The first flash produced by a storm usually does not strike ground, but little has been published concerning the time after the first flash before a cloud-to-ground flash occurs, particularly for a variety of climatological regions. To begin addressing this issue, this study analyzed data from very-high-frequency (VHF) lightning

Truth‐telling in the Australian Curriculum
Abstract Unlike Canada and South Africa, Australia has not completed a national Truth‐telling of First Nations histories. As a consequence, the curriculum is at risk of excluding Truth‐telling, leading to indoctrination of past injustices as part of school learning.

Abstract Objective This study was undertaken to develop and validate a deep survival model (EEGSurvNet) that analyzes routine electroencephalography (EEG) to predict individual seizure risk over time, comparing its performance to traditional clinical predictors such as interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs).

Lightning activity in the eastern Mediterranean region [PDF]
Twenty days of lightning activity recorded during winter 2002–2003 in the Mediterranean region with significant rain accumulation in Greece were studied on the basis of the measurements of the UK Met Office long‐range VLF sferics Arrival Time Difference (ATD) system and the spaceborne NASA Lightning Imaging Sensor (LIS) sensor onboard the Tropical ...

Small‐signal modeling reveals that insufficient system damping positions conjugate poles near the imaginary axis, fundamentally explaining the SFR mechanism. A virtual resistance control is consequently proposed to damp the resonance and effectively suppress SFR, which is validated through Hardware‐in‐the‐Loop experiments.

Introduction Oral health is part of general health, and oral diseases share risk factors with several non‐communicable diseases. The World Dental Federation (FDI) has published a theoretical framework illustrating the complex interactions between the core elements of oral health (CEOHs): driving determinants, moderating factors, and general health and ...
