Compositional Acclimation Can Lessen Tropical Forest Change in Response to Increasing Lightning Frequency: Insights From Simulation Modeling

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 31, Issue 12, December 2025.
Lightning is a major agent of forest tree mortality. In this study, we investigated how changes in lightning frequency affect forest biomass. Our approach was to implement lightning into a forest dynamics model. The probability of lightning‐induced mortality varied by species according to field observations.
