The Architecture of Large Kurgans of the Scythians and Their Periphery: A Challenge for Magnetometer Prospections in the Eurasian Steppe Belt

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The burial mounds of the early Iron Age, which we will refer to below as kurgans, from the nomadic equestrian warriors of Eurasia, form a very complex group of archaeological monuments. Archaeological excavations in Aržan 2 (Siberia) and Aleksandropol (Ukraine) show that the large burial mounds are complex architectural constructions.

Novel 4,5‐Dihydrothiazole‐phenylpiperazine Derivatives: Synthesis, Docking Studies and Pharmacological Evaluation as Serotonergic Agents

open access: yesChemMedChem, Accepted Article.
We have described the synthesis of a new series of LCAPs (long‐chain arylpiperazine) as serotoninergic ligands (FG 1‐18). The combination of structural elements including heterocyclic nucleus, propyl chain and 4,5‐dihydrothiazol‐2‐ylphenylpiperazines, led to the preparation of different derivatives tested for their affinity toward 5‐HT1A, 5‐HT2A and 5 ...

Frequency‐Domain Subspace Identification for Noninvasive Transformer Winding Parameter Estimation and Fault Diagnostics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications, EarlyView.
Noninvasive frequency‐domain method estimates transformer winding parameters from terminal measurements, eliminating the need for design data. ABSTRACT A novel frequency‐domain subspace identification method enables precise estimation of transformer winding ladder network parameters directly from terminal measurements.

Truth‐telling in the Australian Curriculum

open access: yesThe Curriculum Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Unlike Canada and South Africa, Australia has not completed a national Truth‐telling of First Nations histories. As a consequence, the curriculum is at risk of excluding Truth‐telling, leading to indoctrination of past injustices as part of school learning.

Challenges to parental engagement in K‐12 online learning during the pandemic: Lessons learned and a tripartite model for future involvement

open access: yesFuture in Educational Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Online learning became a central feature of education during the COVID‐19 pandemic, as traditional classrooms were rapidly replaced by virtual environments within students' homes through platforms such as Zoom. This abrupt transition required parents of K‐12 students to assume the unfamiliar role of at‐home educators, often without adequate ...

Is Fintech Good for Bank Performance? The Case of Mobile Money in the East African Community

open access: yesInternational Journal of Finance &Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mobile money, a technology‐driven innovation in financial services, has profoundly penetrated the financial landscape in Sub‐Saharan Africa, including banks. Yet, besides anecdotal evidence, little is known about whether mobile money adoption enhances or worsens bank performance.

Process safety at anaerobic digestion sites and its workplace impact: A rapid review

open access: yesProcess Safety Progress, EarlyView.
Abstract Anaerobic digestion (AD) is important for the developing green/circular economy and is widely used to process different organic wastes and to capture emitted methane. This greenhouse gas can then be used to generate energy. There are over 700 operational AD facilities across the United Kingdom, excluding water treatment plants, a number ...

A radar‐based investigation of precipitation growth and decay in South Korea

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Within a Lagrangian framework, we quantitatively retrieved and assessed precipitation growth and decay using the South Korean radar network, focusing on spatial patterns over the unique geographical features, including complex topography and land–ocean boundaries. Our findings indicate that the precipitation growth and decay is significantly influenced

Evaluation of video evidence of possible ball lightning

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
We analyze images of possible ball lightning that appeared less than 10 m from a video camera. The objects' velocity and estimated brightness all agree with typical eyewitness accounts of ball lightning. Though there is an alternative explanation that the objects were sparks from a power‐line arc, we describe analytical techniques that assist in ...
