COMPARISON TWO LOCATIONS OF LIGHTNING DETECTION

open access: yesJurnal Meteorologi Klimatologi dan Geofisika, 2019
The objective of this study was to identify the lightning distribution by comparing of two lightning sensors located in Jakarta and Bandung. Using Storm Tracker Lightning Detector maintained by the Indonesia Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG), Cloud-to-Ground lightning (CG) analyzed with a various radius i.e. 0.1˚, 0.5˚ and 1.0˚.

Electrospun fibrous sorbents for the removal of uranium and americium from aqueous media

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
Polymethacrylate‐based electrospun microfibers with tertiary amino functionalities are evaluated as adsorbents for U‐232 and Am‐241 in both simplified and complex (seawater) water matrices, highlighting their ability for efficient actinide removal. Abstract Polymethacrylate‐based electrospun microfibers containing tertiary amino functionalities were ...

Inter-Comparison of Lightning Measurements in Quasi-Linear Convective Systems

open access: yesAtmosphere
Data from four lightning networks collected during three quasi-linear convective systems (QLCS) are used to understand the differences in detection for optimizing their combined use.

In Situ Curing‐Enabled 3D Printing of Continuous Fiber‐Reinforced Thermosetting Composites

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
In situ curing‐enabled the 3D printing of continuous fiber/thermoset composites, which were reviewed. Particularly, four types of in situ curing, were discussed, including Radiation‐induced curing, photothermal curing, electrothermal curing, and frontal polymerization. AI‐integrated printing was also analyzed.

Characterization of synoptic environment for mesoscale convective systems over South Korea using ERA5 reanalysis data

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
In this study, the synoptic conditions for modes of mesoscale convective systems (MCSs) in South Korea are generalized based on composite analysis. The preferred precipitation region, synoptic patterns, moisture transport, sea surface temperature and thermodynamic and dynamic instabilities are characterized according to four modes: convective cells (CC)

Online Monitoring and Transmission System for Lightning Detection Network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Lightning detection data is a kind of distributed information with high real-timeliness. After the lightning events are detected by the lightning detection network, the original detection data need to be collected and concentrated rapidly and timely for ...

Impact of fragmented urbanization on observed precipitation

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
This study investigates the impact of fragmented urban landscapes on downwind precipitation by applying an innovative observation‐centered approach to an extensive rain gauge network in Belgium. The approach classifies the observations based on the upwind urban land cover fraction, and compares precipitation indices between rural‐ and urban‐labeled ...

Lightning in the Mediterranean and its relation with sea-surface temperature

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2016
Here we present the analysis of lightning activity over the Mediterranean, based on a 10 year long dataset (2005–2014) provided by the ZEUS long-range lightning detection system.

Lightning, IT Diffusion and Economic Growth across US States [PDF]

open access: yes
Empirically, a higher frequency of lightning strikes is associated with slower growth in labor productivity across the 48 contiguous US states after 1990; before 1990 there is no correlation between growth and lightning.

Sentipensar [Feel‐Thinking] Cultivates Collective Scientific Sensemaking and Worldbuilding Within and Beyond Ecological Despair

open access: yesScience Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Educating youth about environmental and climate justice is crucial in realizing a sustainable and flourishing future. Yet this can be challenging given the intense eco‐emotions youth experience and express while learning about these consequential realities and their implications.
