Lightning networks detect storms
Systems used to detect cloud‐to‐ground lightning flashes are proving to be “a tremendous supplement” to radar and satellite information in forecasting thunderstorms, according to a meteorologist who uses the new systems. Some of the benefits of this technology for weather forecasters, air traffic controllers, and power companies will be discussed in a ...

COMPARISON TWO LOCATIONS OF LIGHTNING DETECTION
The objective of this study was to identify the lightning distribution by comparing of two lightning sensors located in Jakarta and Bandung. Using Storm Tracker Lightning Detector maintained by the Indonesia Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG), Cloud-to-Ground lightning (CG) analyzed with a various radius i.e. 0.1˚, 0.5˚ and 1.0˚.

Detection of visible lightning on Saturn
Until now, evidence for lightning on Saturn has been indirect – through radio emissions and cloud morphology. Here we report the first visible detection of lightning, on the night side on August 17, 2009 at −36.4° ± 0.1° planetocentric latitude and 10.6° ± 0.9° west longitude. No other locations produced lightning detectable by either imaging or radio.

Lightning characteristics observed by lightning detection system (LDS) along KLMK-PROI 275 kV transmission line [PDF]
A cloud-to-ground lightning activity data collected by a Lightning Detection System (LDS) along the 275 kV transmission line KLMK-PROI in year 2004 to 2005 from Seremban to Melaka has been investigated. The LDS are installed by TNB Research Sdn Bhd

Small‐signal modeling reveals that insufficient system damping positions conjugate poles near the imaginary axis, fundamentally explaining the SFR mechanism. A virtual resistance control is consequently proposed to damp the resonance and effectively suppress SFR, which is validated through Hardware‐in‐the‐Loop experiments.

Development of Single-station Early Warning Lightning Alarm System [PDF]
Lightning is one of the spectacular natural phenomena which happen on the earth. More than 2000 people are killed worldwide by lightning each year. The lightning monitoring system is important as the early warning alarm system.

Yes, Friendship and Love Can Be Bought and Sold
ABSTRACT Can friendship and love be bought and sold? I argue yes, contrary to philosophical consensus. The prevailing view rests on the common error of over‐reliance on idealized conceptions of friendship and love that bear little resemblance to actual relationships.

This study evaluated four stereotactic radiosurgery planning approaches for posterior choroidal melanoma (CM). Analysis of thirteen CM cases resulted in a clinically meaningful reduction in dose to the brain for Brainlab Elements modulated arcs (BE) and Varian Eclipse HyperArc modulated arcs (HA) compared to Brainlab iPlan dynamic conformal arc therapy
