Co‐localization of tau and TDP‐43 after extracellular vesicle delivery to cells
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from donor cells transfected with EGFP–2N4R‐tau or mCherry‐wtTDP‐43 were taken up by recipient cells, leading to cytosolic co‐localization of tau and TDP‐43. Molecular modeling revealed that tau and TDP‐43 directly interact through hydrogen bonding, suggesting a mechanistic link underlying their co‐pathology ...

Inter-Comparison of Lightning Trends from Ground-Based Networks During Severe Weather: Applications Toward GLM [PDF]
The planned GOES-R Geostationary Lightning Mapper (GLM) will provide total lightning data on the location and intensity of thunderstorms over a hemispheric spatial domain.

Abstract This article examines how salient sustainability risks from near‐miss natural disasters influence board composition. Using a difference‐in‐differences design, I find that firms located in counties neighboring disaster‐affected areas significantly increase the presence of directors with sustainability expertise following the disaster.

Axial muscle‐fibre orientations in larval zebrafish
In 4 days post‐fertilization zebrafish larvae, the fast axial muscle fibres follow helical trajectories that taper towards the tail. Adjacent muscle fibres form substantial angles relative to each other to accommodate this pattern. Using a novel semi‐automatic method, we quantified 3D fibre angles over the whole muscle volume.

The electrical charge carried by raindrops provides significant information about thunderstorm electrification mechanisms, since the charge acquired by hydrometeors is closely related to the microphysical processes that they undergo within clouds ...

The Kinematic and Microphysical Control of Storm Integrated Lightning Flash Extent [PDF]
Objective: To investigate the kinematic and microphysical control of lightning properties, particularly those that may govern the production of nitrogen oxides (NOx) in thunderstorms, such as flash rate, type (intracloud [IC] vs.

ABSTRACT Laws play some role in explanations: at the very least, they somehow connect what is explained, or the explanandum, to what explains, or the explanans. Thus, thermodynamical laws connect the match's being struck and its lightning, so that the former causes the latter; and laws about set formation connect Socrates' existence with {Socrates}'s ...

“I had to open my eyes”—A narrative approach to studying the process of adult belief change
Abstract Why do people, socialized and sedimented in their political beliefs, change their convictions in adulthood? Belief change has a long history of research in the social sciences. Yet, in quantitative research, belief change is studied largely through cognitive and behavioral lenses, that, however valuable, struggle to capture how people ...

Inter-Comparison of Lightning Measurements in Quasi-Linear Convective Systems
Data from four lightning networks collected during three quasi-linear convective systems (QLCS) are used to understand the differences in detection for optimizing their combined use.
