Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

Sol–Gel Derived Polymer Precursors for Stereolithography of ZrC

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
ZrC is a critical material target for extreme temperature conditions. This report describes a protocol for preparing ZrC ceramics via stereolithography and examines the impact of the polymer matrix on carbothermal reduction and mechanical stability of 3D printed ZrC.

Objective ride quality evaluation of a multi-link torsion axle for battery electric vehicles

open access: yesAutomotive and Engine Technology
In this work, the ride quality of the novel multi-link torsion axle (MLTA) was experimentally evaluated. The kinematic topology of this suspension concept is designed to maximise the coherent package space in the underbody of small- to medium-sized ...

Magnetometer deployment mechanism for Pioneer Venus [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
A three segment, 15-foot boom mechanism was developed to deploy magnetometers from the Pioneer Venus orbiter spinning shelf. The stowage mechanism is designed to contain the magnetometers during launch and to deploy these instruments by centrifugal force

Al–Cu Composite Casting of Laser‐Deoxidized Copper: Bonding, Interfacial Chemistry, and Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser‐based oxide removal of Cu inserts in oxygen‐free conditions and examines long‐term oxidation kinetics and surface chemistry under different atmospheres via X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Al–Cu compound casting with differently oxidized surfaces is performed, and intermetallic phase formation, morphology, and thermal ...

Development of an integrated digital design process for the façade design of the adaptive building D1244

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment
Adaptive façades (AF) can reduce resource use and enable climate-responsive building envelopes. However, their development typically involves heterogeneous software environments that hinder interoperability and consistent information exchange. This paper

Resistance Rapid Heating of Aluminum Coatings in an Extreme High Vacuum–Adequate Atmosphere for Hot Stamping

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The subject of this work is the development of a corrosion‐protective coating on steel sheets for form hardening. Rapid heating in an extreme high vacuum (XHV)‐adequate atmosphere is a useful method to prevent oxidation during alloying of 22MnB5 and aluminum to obtain a metallurgical bonding.

Multifunctional Crushing and Piezoresistive Self‐Sensing in Conductive Epoxy/CNT‐Coated Polyetherimide TPMS Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports lightweight polyetherimide triply periodic minimal surfaces lattices coated with carbon nanotube‐reinforced epoxy that combine mechanical robustness with self‐sensing. The conformal coating enhances stiffness, strength and energy absorption while enabling reliable strain monitoring.
