Degradation of pesticides by the ligninolytic enzyme Laccase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Pesticides are widely used in many industries but the majority reaches non-target organisms or locations through point or diffuse sources. Understanding conditions for their degradation is therefore important.

Ligninolytic enzymes and its mechanisms for degradation of lignocellulosic waste in environment

open access: yesHeliyon, 2020
Ligninolytic enzymes play a key role in degradation and detoxification of lignocellulosic waste in environment. The major ligninolytic enzymes are laccase, lignin peroxidase, manganese peroxidase, and versatile peroxidase. The activities of these enzymes

Ligninolytic enzyme activities in mycelium of some wild and commercial mushrooms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Lignin is probably one of the most recalcitrant compounds synthesized by plants. This compound is degraded by few microorganisms. White-rot fungi have been extensively studied due to its powerful ligninolytic enzymes.

Characterization and utilization of trichoderma sp. for efficient management of oil palm empty fruit bunch waste in plantations [PDF]

open access: yesGlobal Journal of Environmental Science and Management
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Trichoderma species (Trichoderma sp.) is commonly found in nature, particularly in soil and roots, often thriving in plants rich in cellulose such as oil palm. Therefore, this study aimed to characterize Trichoderma sp. in each

Peroxidase production and ligninolytic potentials of fresh water bacteria Raoultella ornithinolytica and Ensifer adhaerens

open access: yesBiotechnology Reports, 2017
Interest in novel ligninolytic bacteria has remained topical due to, in part, the maneuverability of the bacterial genome. Conversely, the fungal genome lacks the dexterity for similar maneuverability thus, posing challenges in the fungal enzyme yield ...

Decolorization of Synthetic Dyes by Ligninolytic Enzymes from Trametes hirsuta D7

open access: yesMakara Journal of Science, 2019
The ability of ligninolytic enzymes from Trametes hirsuta D7 to decolorize several synthetic dyes was investigated. A crude enzyme powder was produced by fermenting oil palm empty fruit bunch fibers for one month.

Production of Ligninolytic Enzymes by Cultures of White Rot Fungi [PDF]

open access: yesPolish Journal of Microbiology, 2014
Some Basidiomycota were chosen for studies of key ligninases synthesis (25°C, 30 days) in modified medium (shaken or not cultures) with added wheat straw. Liquid Czapek medium with straw yielded a higher amount of laccase than peroxidase, ground straw induced enzyme worse than chopped straw.

Degradation of PAHs by ligninolytic enzymes of Irpex lacteus

open access: yesFolia Microbiologica, 2008
The ligninolytic fungus Irpex lacteus was shown as an efficient degrader of oligocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs; 'polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons') possessing 3-6 aromatic rings in complex liquid media. The strain produced mainly Mn-dependent peroxidase in media without pollutants. Activity of ligninolytic enzymes was higher in a N-limited medium.

Stimulation of ligninolytic enzyme production in Phanerochaete chrysosporium by polyoxyalkanes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Microbiology, 2003
Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) and some substances similar to PEG in chemical structure were tested as stimulators of ligninolytic enzyme production in shaken culture of Phanerochaete chrysosporium. The substances that caused high enzymatic activity were linear polymers [poly(ethylene glycol), poly(propylene glycol), poly(butylene glycol) and poly(vinyl ...

Two distinct alcohol dehydrogenase classes mediate bacterial 2‐hydroxyethylphosphonate catabolism

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Phosphonates are molecules containing a direct carbon‐phosphorus bond. In nature, these compounds are produced by a variety of organisms, and many environmental microbes are able to degrade specific phosphonates and feed on them. This work focuses on 2‐hydroxyethylphosphonate (HEP)—a natural compound that is found frequently in the environment,
