Testing for Non-nested Conditional Moment Retrictions via Conditional Empirical Likelihood [PDF]
We propose non-nested tests for competing conditional moment resctriction models using a method of empirical likelihood. Our tests are based on the method of conditional empirical likelihood developed by Kitamura, Tripathi and Ahn (2004) and Zhang and ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

An unconditional maximum likelihood test for a unit root [PDF]
We investigate a test for unit roots in autoregressive time series based on maximization of the unconditional likelihood. This is the likelihood function appropriate for stationary time series.

CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Measuring likelihood in cybersecurity
Cybersecurity risk is commonly expressed through impact and likelihood, yet likelihood remains difficult to estimate because cyber incidents are underreported, heterogeneous datasets are weakly comparable, and attacker behaviour changes faster than conventional probability baselines.

Maximum Likelihood with Auxiliary Information
Analysis of survey data does not happen in a vacuum. We typically know more about the target population than just the data observed in the survey. In some cases this extra information can be incorporated via calibration of survey weights.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.
