Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

A New Exponential-Type Model Under Unified Progressive Hybrid Censoring: Computational Inference and Its Applications

open access: yesMathematics
A new odd exponential-type (NOT-Exp) distribution provides a flexible and analytically tractable framework for modeling lifetime data exhibiting non-constant hazard behaviors, including increasing, decreasing, bathtub-shaped, and unimodal forms, which ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Advanced Analysis of the Newly Unit-Lindley Model Under Improved Censoring: Applications to Biomedical and Engineering Systems

open access: yesAxioms
In modern reliability and survival analysis, modeling bounded-lifetime data under complex sampling mechanisms remains a challenging yet practically significant problem, particularly in biomedical and engineering applications where experimental time and ...

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

A New Generalized ZLindley Model: Theory, Inference, and Engineering Reliability Applications

open access: yesMathematics
This study presents a new version of the ZLindly (ZL) model that improves modeling flexibility while maintaining ease of analysis, allowing for the simultaneous accommodation of redundant zeros, thick-tailed behavior, and complex failure rate dynamics ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Likelihood-based inference for correlated diffusions

open access: yes
We address the problem of likelihood based inference for correlated diffusion processes using Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) techniques. Such a task presents two interesting problems.
