Empirical Likelihood for Nonsmooth Functionals

open access: yesCoRR
Empirical likelihood is an attractive inferential framework that respects natural parameter boundaries, but existing approaches typically require smoothness of the functional and miscalibrate substantially when these assumptions are violated. For the optimal-value functional central to policy evaluation, smoothness holds only when the optimum is unique

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Using a Neural Network to Approximate the Negative Log Likelihood Function [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
An increasingly frequent challenge faced in HEP data analysis is to characterize the agreement between a prediction that depends on a dozen or more model parameters—such as predictions coming from an effective field theory (EFT) framework—and the ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

The estimation of the uncertainty associated with rating curves of the river Ivinhema in the state of Paraná/Brazil

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
The estimation of the uncertainty associated with stage-discharge relations is a challenge to the hydrologists. Bayesian inference with likelihood estimator is a promissory approach.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Parameter Estimation with Data-Driven Nonparametric Likelihood Functions

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
In this paper, we consider a surrogate modeling approach using a data-driven nonparametric likelihood function constructed on a manifold on which the data lie (or to which they are close).
