Investigation of the behaviour of a LILW superficial repository under aircraft impact

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Design, 2016
Safety and security are the two fundamental aspects to guarantee when designing a LILW superficial repository. Because of its safety concern, we have to prove, and build confidence in, the primary and secondary consequences of the crashing will be acceptable. These goals are obtained generally by means of safety assessment supported by calculations.

Evaluation of nuclide release scenarios for a hypothetical LILW repository

Progress in Nuclear Energy, 2011
Abstract A program for the safety assessment and performance evaluation of a low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste (LILW) repository system has been developed. Utilizing GoldSim (2006) , the program evaluates nuclide release and transport into the geosphere and biosphere under various disruptive natural and manmade events and scenarios that ...

Use of ADVANTG to analyse skyshine γ-dose rates around a silo type LILW repository

open access: yesAnnals of Nuclear Energy, 2020
Abstract MCNP and the ADVANTG code were used to analyse γ-dose rates for the future Slovenian LILW repository. Using ADVANTG’s variance reduction technique, different detailed calculations of γ-dose rates were achievable in a reasonable time, whereby the analogue MCNP simulations were accelerated up to 9500 times.

An evaluation of nuclide release from a trench-type LILW repository

Progress in Nuclear Energy, 2016
Abstract A simple and effective model and a GoldSim (GoldSim, 2006) template program, by which a probabilistic safety assessment of a conceptual trench-type repository for low- and intermediate level radioactive waste (LILW) disposal can be carried out under various nuclide release scenarios, have been developed.
