The current state of limb salvage surgery [PDF]

open access: yesSkeletal Radiology, 2009
The treatment of malignant tumors of the extremities has a long and sometimes distressing history. Resective surgery was clearly the goal of the tumor treatment teams, but the systems for reconstruction were so limited that the patients were sometimes severely disabled after wide resective surgery and amputation seemed to be the logical solution.

Infection after prosthetic reconstruction in limb salvage surgery [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Orthopaedics, 2002
Among 145 patients that underwent prosthetic reconstruction between 1985 and 1998, infection developed in 18. Osteosarcoma was the most common primary tumour, and staphylococci were the major pathogenic organisms. Infections were controlled in five patients with débridement only and in two patients with a two-stage revision.

Drug‐Free Thrombolysis Mediated by Physically Activated Micro/Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Overview of particle‐mediated thrombolytic effects (thermal, mechanical, and chemical) and their activating physical stimuli (light, ultrasound, and magnetic field) in drug‐free thrombolysis. ABSTRACT Thrombus‐associated disorders rank among the world's leading causes of death, with ischemic heart disease and stroke as the main contributors.

An In Situ Embedded B‐MOF Sponge With Shape‐Memory for All‐in‐One Diabetic Wound Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A smart shape‐memory sponge dressing (P1A3@B‐MOF) is developed for accelerated diabetic wound healing. It achieves pH‐responsive corelease of Zn2+ and salvianolic acid B, synergistically providing antibacterial action, repolarizing macrophages to the M2 phenotype, and promoting angiogenesis.
