Evaluation of Lime as an Additive to Soil-Asphalt Stabilization, HR-1, Progress Report, 1961 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1961
This report presents the results of a limited investigation of the use of lime as an auxiliary additive for improving the stabilization of soils with cutback asphalts. It is felt that the data obtained presents additional information on the subject of

The effects of MgO, Na2O and SO3 on industrial clinkering process: phase composition, polymorphism, microstructure and hydration, using a multidisciplinary approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Preprint publicado en: Materials Characterization Volume 155, September 2019, 109809The present investigation deals with how minor elements (their oxides: MgO, Na2O and SO3) in industrial kiln feeds affect (i) chemical reactions upon clinkering, (ii ...

Peat Stabilization with Carbide Lime

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering, Science and Technology, 2009
Peat is in the category of problematic soil because it has low shear strength and high compressibility, which are not suitable for construction. Peat lands can be found in various parts of the world; therefore, it is essential to fmd an alternative to improve the strength since nowadays lands are very expensive and very limited.

Click Capture SELEX for the Identification of Click‐Modified Aptamers Targeting Small Molecules in Solution

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Using kanamycin A as a model target, we developed click‐capture SELEX to identify nucleobase‐modified aptamers capable of binding small molecules in solution. This approach enables flexible incorporation of nucleobase modifications via CuAAC, allowing the chemical properties of the aptamer to be tailored to the target molecule.

Earth architecture : ancient and new methods for durability improvement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Quite a big part of the country and world’s heritage was made using unfired earth constructions. The new earth buildings, as well as the conservation of the existent heritage, need scientific knowledge to allow higher durability.

Porous glass-ceramics from alkali activation and sinter-crystallization of mixtures of waste glass and residues from plasma processing of municipal solid waste [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Alkali-activated aqueous slurries of fine glass powders, mostly deriving from the plasma processing of municipal solid waste ('Plasmastone'), were found to undergo progressive hardening at low temperature (75 degrees C) owing to the formation of C-S-H ...

Extensive reuse of soda-lime waste glass in fly ash-based geopolymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The possibility of extensive incorporation of soda-lime waste glass in the synthesis of fly ash-based geopolymers was investigated. Using waste glass as silica supplier avoids the use of water glass solution as chemical activator.
