Modelling Adverse Selection on Electronic Order-Driven Markets [PDF]

open access: yes
The vast majority of models that decompose the bid/ask spread assume the quote-driven, specialist structure of the NYSE. This paper critically evaluates these models to construct a model specific for an electronic order-driven exchange.

Is the well‐known phrase ‘small is beautiful’ true of small transnational education institutions?

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract The purpose of this research is to consider the potential attractiveness of operating a small international branch campus (IBC). Conservation Laws in a Limit Order Book

open access: yes, 2019
We present a class of macroscopic models of the Limit Order Book to simulate the aggregate behaviour of market makers in response to trading flows. The resulting models are solved numerically and asymptotically, and a class of similarity solutions linked to order book formation and recovery is explored.

‘It's all very well having a diverse curriculum, but if there is no curriculum, it can be as diverse as you like’: Precarity and decolonising in the neoliberal UK higher education system

Limit theorems for limit order books

open access: yes, 2014
In the first part of the thesis, we define a random state-dependent discrete model of a two-sided limit order book in terms of its key quantities best bid [ask] price and the standing buy [sell] volume density. For a simple scaling that introduces a slow time scaling, that is equivalent to the classical law of large numbers, for the bid/ask prices and ...

On the Dark Side of the Market: Identifying and Analyzing Hidden Order Placements [PDF]

open access: yes
Trading under limited pre-trade transparency becomes increasingly popular on financial markets. We provide first evidence on traders’ use of (completely) hidden orders which might be placed even inside of the (displayed) bid-ask spread.
