QTF-derived stochastic load characterisation of buoyancy-decentralised TLP tendons for ULS assessment

open access: yesResults in Engineering
Toward designing modularised lightweight Tension Leg Platforms (TLP), the impact of buoyancy decentralisation on the station-keeping system is investigated under the Ultimate Limit State (ULS).

Effectiveness of Resistance Intradialytic Exercise Compared to Aerobic Intradialytic Exercise for Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis commonly experience reduced physical function, fatigue, poor sleep quality, and impaired health‐related quality of life. Intradialytic exercise has been proposed as a non‐pharmacological strategy to improve these outcomes.

Continuum quantum systems as limits of discrete quantum systems: II. State functions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 2001
This is the second of a series of four papers by the author, two of which have already appeared [Part I, J. Funct. Anal. 186, No. 1, 153-166 (2001; Zbl 0989.81053); Part III, J. Math. Phys. 42, No. 10, 4653-4668 (2001; Zbl 1018.81030)], devoted to the establishment of a theory of correspondences between discrete and continuum quantum systems ...

Establishing an Apheresis Medicine Program in a Resource‐Constrained Setting: A 5‐Year Experience From Lagos, Nigeria

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Establishing a comprehensive apheresis medicine program in a resource‐constrained setting presents significant structural, financial, and logistical challenges. Despite the growing clinical importance of apheresis services globally, published experience from sub‐Saharan Africa remains sparse.

The Geometry of Limit State Function Graphs and Subset Simulation

open access: yes, 2017
In the last fifteen the subset sampling method has often been used in reliability problems as a tool for calculating small probabilities. This method is extrapolating from an initial Monte Carlo estimate for the probability content of a failure domain found by a suitable higher level of the original limit state function.

Serum Myonectin Levels Are Positively Associated With Physical Function and Lower Frailty‐Related Limitation in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients frequently suffer from frailty, characterized by reduced physical function and poor prognosis. Myokines, such as myonectin, secreted by muscle, are emerging regulators of systemic health. This study investigated the relationship between serum myonectin, adipokines (adiponectin, omentin), and ...

Three-body breakup of 22C

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2016
Coulomb breakup excitation functions of 22C are calculated as a function of its ground state energy. We consider three ground states that fall into the recent experimental limit S2n < 0.3 MeV.

Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...
