Limit Theorems of Probability Theory and Optimality in Linear Stochastic Evolution Systems

1992
A survey of some methods and results for the adaptive control of infinite dimensional stochastic systems is given. Adaptive control includes the identification of unknown parameters and the construction of an adaptive control law that is optimal for an ergodic cost criterion.

On the distribution function for a function ofnstatistic variables and the Central Limit Theorem in the Mathematical Theory of Probability

Scandinavian Actuarial Journal, 1946
According to the Central Limit Theorem in the mathematical theory of probability, the sum i. e. a specific function of n mutually independent statistic variables — under very general conditions — converges towards the normal distribution function : when the number of the statistic variables entering into the sum (function) examined tends to infinity ...

DFG project report "A Unified Approach to Limit Theorems for Dual Objects in Probability and Number Theory"

Several situations are known in mathematics, where similar statements hold for different mathematical objects. However, since the objects are different, the proofs of these statements as well as their assumptions are different. One of the basic ideas of the project is to suggest a general approach for fi nding certain similarities between two ...

Refinements of Limit Theorems and Quantitative Convergence Results in Probability Theory with Applications in Particle Physics, Healthcare Economics, and Financial Markets

This thesis explores classical results in probability theory, such as the Strong Law of Large Numbers and the Central Limit Theorem, for random variables which are not necessarily independent. It furthermore explores applications of probability theory, statistics and machine learning to real-world problems in particle physics, healthcare economics, and
