Behavior of nuisance mussel, Limnoperna fortunei, in water supply facilities
Limnoperna fortunei, a species of bivalve of foreign origin, was confirmed to exist in Japan for the first time in 1992. It was found in some facilities of Hanshin Water Supply Authority in 1994. Later, it was found to cause various problems such as clogging of sampling pipes.

Limnoperna fortunei Versus Dreissena polymorpha: Population Densities and Benthic Community Impacts of Two Invasive Freshwater Bivalves [PDF]
In this study, for the first time, using similar methods, we compared the population density and distribution across different substrate types of Limnoperna fortunei and Dreissena polymorpha, as well as their impacts on the composition of benthic ...

First record of microplastics in the mussel Limnoperna fortunei
Regional Studies in Marine Science, 2020Abstract The goal of this study was to analyse the presence, abundance, types, size and colours of microplastics (MPs) in the soft tissue of the golden mussel Limnoperna fortunei in the freshwater-mixohaline tidal zone of Rio de la Plata estuary. 240 mussels were analysed and the MPs were observed in the 96% of samples, being more abundant in the ...

Parasites of Limnoperna fortunei
2015General information about bucephalid trematodes (Digenea) and the biology of two bucephalid species, Parabucephalopsis parasiluri and Prosorhynchoides ozakii, that are parasitic in Limnoperna fortunei, are reviewed in this chapter. Both of these species have been introduced into Japan with L. fortunei.

Relationships of Limnoperna Fortunei with Benthic Animals
2015Similar to other invasive bivalves, Limnoperna fortunei has a variety of effects on other benthic animals. These effects have been studied in the Parana-Paraguay-Uruguay river system, Rio de la Plata estuary, and in the reservoir Embalse Rio Tercero since the invasion of South America by the bivalve. The bulk of information accumulated indicates that L.

The harm and control technology of Limnoperna fortunei
2011 International Conference on Remote Sensing, Environment and Transportation Engineering, 2011The harm to raw water supply and treatment of Limnoperna fortunei is a new problem. It not only has influence on the ecosystem of water source and the water quality and resistance in the transmittion process, but also does harm to the facilities of water treatment.
