The mechanism of lincomycin‐induced diarrhoea

Acta Medica Scandinavica, 1977
ABSTRACT Metabolic studies were performed before and seven days after treating rats orally with lincomycin. Following the treatment the mean faecal weight increased from 30.2 g/72 hr ± 3.8 (S.D.) to 65.5 ± 8.2. The faecal fat excretion was unchanged, and the weight increase was mainly due to increased water content. To find whether the watery diarrhoea

Effects of Lincomycin on the Immune System

Chemotherapy, 1987
The effects of lincomycin on the immune system were studied on patients suffering from chronic bronchitis by means of phagocytosis, chemotaxis and natural-killer tests. The tests were performed before and 2, 4, 8, 12 and 24 h after administration of 600 mg lincomycin i.m. in a single dose.

Lincomycin in Larger Doses

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1968
To the Editor:— We have been using large doses of lincomycin hyd o-chloride monohydrate (Lincocin) for the treatment of endocarditis (Arch Intern Med120:361, 1967) and severe staphylococcal infections and wish to bring to the immediate attention of fellow practitioners the fact that large doses of lincomycin, given rapidly, seem to be associated with ...

Automated Assay for the Antibiotic Lincomycin

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1966
A chemical assay for the antibiotic lincomycin has been developed which is based on the colorimetric determination of methanethiol generated from the acid hydrolysis of the methylthioglycosido group of the antibiotic. Fermentation beers and production samples as well as purified materials can be assayed by this procedure.
