Submillimetre molecular line observations and modelling of molecular clouds.

open access: yes, 1985
PhDSubmillimetre molecular line observations of molecular clouds in our galaxy are presented, and the data analysed using various alternative cloud models.

The Influence of Chromospheric Activity on Line Formation

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Abstract One of the primary sources of stellar spectral variability is magnetic activity. While our current understanding of chromospheric activity is largely derived from specific lines sensitive to chromospheric heating, such as the Ca ii H and K doublet, previous observational studies have shown that other spectral lines are also ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

AND ASTROPHYSICS Line formation in solar granulation

open access: yes, 2000
. Realistic ab-initio 3D, radiative-hydrodynamical convection simulations of the solar granulation have been applied to Fe i and Fe ii line formation. In contrast to classical analyses based on hydrostatic 1D model atmospheres the procedure contains no ...

The development of magmatism along the Cameroon Volcanic Line: Evidence from teleseismic receiver functions

open access: yes, 2012
[1] The Cameroon Volcanic Line (CVL) in West Africa is a chain of Cenozoic volcanism with no clear age progression. The reasons for its existence are unclear, and the nature of its magmatic plumbing system is poorly understood.

The role of the yeast cleavage and polyadenylation factor subunit Ydh1p/Cft2p in pre-mRNA 3'-end formation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Cleavage and polyadenylation factor (CPF) is a multi-protein complex that functions in pre-mRNA 3'-end formation and in the RNA polymerase II (RNAP II) transcription cycle.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

The Role of Line Managers in Retirement Management and Their Perceptions of Their Role of the Timing of Employee Retirement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Purpose – The focus of this study is on line managers’ attitudes towards their management role in respect of employee retirement. This study has two main aims. Firstly, it explores line managers’ perspectives regarding retirement management (RM): their
