Long-term variability of the optical spectra of NGC4151. II. Evolution of the broad Hα and Hβ emission-line profiles. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Aims. We present the results of a long-term monitoring (11 years, between 1996 and 2006) of Hα and Hβ line variations of the active galactic nucleus of NGC4151. Methods. High quality spectra (S/N > 50 and R ≈ 8 Å) of Hα and Hβ were investigated.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Interplanetary Lyman alpha line profiles: variations with solar activity cycle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
International audienceAims.Interplanetary Lyman $\alpha$ line profiles are derived from the SWAN H cell data measurements. The measurements cover a 6-year period from solar minimum (1996) to after the solar maximum of 2001.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Grain size, size-distribution and dislocation structure from diffraction peak profile analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Diffraction peak profile analysis (or Line Profile Analysis, LPA) has recently been developed to such an extent that it can be applied as a powerful method for the characterization of microstructures of crystalline materials in terms of crystallite ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Personal profiles: Facilitating participation in Learning Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Unpublished paperLearning Networks are particularly suitable for the self-directed lifelong learner. As the learner takes control over his personal competence development, it is in his interest to find suitable learning opportunities, relevant ...

Zelda: Fitting Lyman Alpha Line Profiles using Deep Learning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
We present zELDA (redshift Estimator for Line profiles of Distant Lyman Alpha emitters), an open-source code to fit Lyman α (Ly α) line profiles. The main motivation is to provide the community with an easy to use and fast tool to analyse Ly α line ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
