Soil N mineralization profiles of co-existing woody vegetation islands at the alpine tree line [PDF]
Tree lines form a transition ecotone from forest to tundra both at high elevation and high latitude and occur in a number of different forms. Nitrogen (N) deficiency is considered to be a factor involved in tree line formation, and also N dynamics are ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Emission-line profiles from expanding envelopes [PDF]
We have developed a method for calculating the emission-line profiles from an expanding envelope. The method applies to an envelope where the emission intensity varies with latitude.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Phase-Dependent Line Profiles of VV CEP [PDF]
The normalized line profiles of VV Cep have been calculated by integrating the equation of transfer. The Sobolev theory was adopted and the wind velocity distribution was assumed to be V(r)=V∞(1-Rc/r)^(1/2). The peaks of the line profiles for the phase 0.

Profile line accuracy in cephalometric radiographs
Introduction This study investigates the accuracy of facial soft-tissue profile lines in lateral cephalometric radiographs by comparing them to true profile lines derived from 3-dimensional photographs. Methods This prospective methodological study was performed on preexisting records of 100 orthodontic patients.

Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...
