Dissipation in dynamics of a moving contact line [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2001
The dynamics of the deformations of a moving contact line is studied assuming two different dissipation mechanisms. It is shown that the characteristic relaxation time for a deformation of wavelength $2π/|k|$ of a contact line moving with velocity $v$ is given as $τ^{-1}(k)=c(v) |k|$.

Catenoid Stability with a Free Contact Line [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 2015
Contact-drop dispensing is central to many small-scale applications, such as direct-scanning probe lithography and micromachined fountain-pen techniques. Accurate and controllable dispensing required for nanometer-resolved surface patterning hinges on the stability and breakup of liquid bridges.

Transfer Durability of Line-Patterned Replica Mold Made of High-Hardness UV-Curable Resin

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2020
Ultraviolet nanoimprint lithography (UV-NIL) requires high durability of the mold for the mass production of nanostructures. To evaluate the durability of a line-patterned replica mold made of high-hardness UV curable resin, repetitive transfer and ...

Variational approach to contact line dynamics for thin films [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This paper investigates a variational approach to viscous flows with contact line dynamics based on energy-dissipation modeling. The corresponding model is reduced to a thin-film equation and its variational structure is also constructed and discussed ...

Effect of Overhead Contact Line Pre-Sag on the Interaction Performance with a Pantograph in Electrified Railways

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
In the high-speed rail industry, the overhead contact line erected along the railroad is used to supply the electricity to the high-speed train via a pantograph on the carbody’s roof.

NORMAL LINE CONTACT OF FINITE-LENGTH CYLINDERS

open access: yesFacta Universitatis. Series: Mechanical Engineering, 2017
In this paper, the normal contact problem between an elastic half-space and a cylindrical body with the axis parallel to the surface of the half-space is solved numerically by using the Boundary Element Method (BEM).

On the Moving Contact Line Singularity [PDF]

open access: yesDoklady Physics, 2019
Given that contact line between liquid and solid phases can move regardless how negligibly small are the surface roughness, Navier slip, liquid volatility, impurities, deviations from the Newtonian behavior, and other system- dependent parameters, the problem is treated here from the pure hydrodynamical point of view only.
