Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Algebraic approach to multiple defects on the line and application to Casimir force

open access: yes, 2007
An algebraic framework for quantization in presence of arbitrary number of point-like defects on the line is developed. We consider a scalar field which interacts with the defects and freely propagates away of them.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Effects of line defects on spin-dependent electronic transport of zigzag MoS2 nanoribbons

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2016
The nonlinear spin-dependent transport properties in zigzag molybdenum-disulfide nanoribbons (ZMNRs) with line defects are investigated systematically using nonequilibrium Green’s function method combined with density functional theory.

Resonant tunneling in disordered borophene nanoribbons with line defects

open access: yesnpj Computational Materials, 2022
Recently, borophene has attracted extensive interest as the wonder material, showing that line defects (LDs) occur widely at the interface between $$\nu _{1/5}$$ ν 1 / 5 and $$\nu _{1/6}$$ ν 1 / 6 boron sheets.

Establishment of a human MYH6 compound heterozygous knockout hESC line to model cardiomyopathy and congenital heart defects by CRISPR/Cas9 system

open access: yesStem Cell Research, 2021
MYH6 encodes the alpha heavy chain subunit of cardiac myosin. Mutations in MYH6 cause cardiomyopathy and congenital heart defects. However, due to embryonic lethality in MYH6 knockout mice, the precise roles of MYH6 in cardiomyopathy, congenital heart ...

Effect of line defects on the electrical transport properties of monolayer MoS$_{2}$ sheet

open access: yes, 2014
We present a computational study on the impact of line defects on the electronic properties of monolayer MoS2. Four different kinds of line defects with Mo and S as the bridging atoms, consistent with recent theoretical and experimental observations are ...

Defects, Non-abelian T-duality, and the Fourier-Mukai transform of the Ramond-Ramond fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We construct topological defects generating non-abelian T-duality for isometry groups acting without isotropy. We find that these defects are given by line bundles on the correspondence space with curvature which can be considered as a non-abelian ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Study of line defects in infinite networks of resistors

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
We study infinite resistor networks perturbed by line defects, in which the resistances are periodically modified along a single line. Using the Sherman–Morrison identity applied to the lattice Laplace operator, we develop a general analytical framework ...
